These annual energy savings are dependent on your property type and location, roof type, slope and size. If your roof is shaded or isn't south facing, figures are likely to be lower. We based the figure on the following: a) You have 12 (440W) solar panels and a 9.5 kWh battery installed b) You’re home all day with an annual electricity consumption of 2,700 kWh (Ofgem). You currently pay our Standard Variable Rate of 27.30p (correct at 1 April 2025) and will use 51% of what you generate c) You sign up for our exclusive SEG rate (20p kWh) for customers who purchase solar and a battery from us, and you sell back the remaining 49% of energy generated. You’ll get a more accurate savings estimation once we’ve surveyed your property.

For eligible customers, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers a grant of up to £7,500 to help with installation costs. It covers installations in England and Wales that take place before the end of March 2028. Homeowners in Scotland can apply for a grant of up to £7,500 through the Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan Scheme. If you buy solar panels and a battery from us, and OVO supply your energy, you'll be eligible for our anytime SEG rate of 20p per kWh rate (correct at 1 January 2024). You'll need to sign up to our SEG tariff to get this rate. This SEG rate is exclusive to customers who get solar panels and battery from OVO. You’ll also need a smart meter. To access Battery Boost, you’ll need (a) your solar panels installed by OVO, (b) a GivEnergy storage battery, connected to Wi-Fi, (c) an OVO energy account and (d) a smart meter

Savings will vary depending on your heat pump usage, efficiency rating, the cost per kWh of your standard home energy tariff, geographical location and weather. Actual sum is £467.54. Savings of £465 are based on the following comparison: a G-rated gas boiler running at 70% efficiency with an average annual consumption of 10,436 kWh at 6.98p per kWh used for heating and hot water, versus an air source heat pump installed through OVO with a Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (or efficiency rating) of 4.2 and an annual consumption of 1739 kWh at 15p/kWh with the Heat Pump Plus add-on.
